Ponda: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday flagged off vehicles operated by women entrepreneurs and Self-Help Group (SHG) members under the Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana (AGEY) in Ponda, while also inaugurating an awareness campaign for the PM Surya Ghar – Har Ghar Bijli Yojana.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the initiative reflects the vision of “Har Ghar Udyam, Har Gaon Samriddh | Har Ghar Urja, Har Ghar Samriddhi,” aimed at strengthening rural livelihoods and promoting clean energy adoption.
Under AGEY, 48 vehicles across eight blocks have been made operational to improve last-mile connectivity and provide assured income opportunities to women. An additional 24 vehicles are expected to be rolled out soon to cover the remaining blocks.
“Through AGEY, we are not only enhancing connectivity in rural Goa but also ensuring sustainable income for our women entrepreneurs. This is a major step towards economic self-reliance of SHG members,” Sawant said.
He also highlighted the benefits of the Mukhyamantri Mahila Lakhpati Nidhi Yojana, under which SHG members can avail loans of up to ₹1 lakh along with mentoring and market linkages.
“Our government is committed to empowering women and strengthening rural livelihoods. At the same time, through PM Surya Ghar, we are encouraging households to adopt clean energy solutions and reduce electricity costs,” the Chief Minister added.
During the programme, Best Lakhpati Didis, PM Surya Ghar vendors and Self-Help Groups were felicitated for their contributions.
The event was attended by officials from various departments, SHG members and local representatives.
