VASCO: On a mission to resolve the teething problem of the four-lane highway connectivity, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant assured the Vascoites that the decision would be taken in the people’s best interest.
Sawant said, “the Government will choose the best site for the ramp connecting the port to teh four-lane highway.”
He said the alternative would be chosen only after a study is done by the traffic police department.
“I have heard the issues, and we now have two options for the ramp connecting the four-lane highway. I have directed the Traffic department to study both the options and once we finalise, the Government will immediately take the decision and implement the same,” said Sawant.
Speaking further on the development projects, Sawant assured that the market complex project in Cortalim would be expedited.
“Vas met me regarding development projects in his Constituency, and we have had a detailed discussion on that projects. I have given instructions to take up his development works on priority and also directed the authorities to expedite works and complete both the markets in the Cortalim constituency,” CM said.
Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar, Cortalim MLA Anton Vas, Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Leo Rodrigues, Traffic DySP Dharmesh Angley and other department heads were present for the inspection.
The local MLA, Daji Salkar said that teh CM came on his invitation to witness and weigh the options available for a ramp.
“We will now weigh all the options and try to get the best solution out to avoid traffic congestion in the city,” said Salkar.
MMC Chairperson Leo Rodrigues said that Chief Minister had given directives to study both the options of the site near Vasco Masjid and the site behind HPCL tanks leading to the chicken market.
“The Traffic DySP Dharmesh Angley thinks that the ramp near the Masjid may not be able to provide the required dimensions for service roads on either side of the ramp. Nevertheless, both the options will be studied in detail before the final site for the ramp is finalised,” said Rodrigues.
