Panaji: The One Time Settlement Scheme – 2020 by Electricity Department, Government of Goa was launched on 30th November, 2020 at the auspicious hands of the Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant in the presence of the Minister for Power, Nilesh Cabral, Chief Secretary, Parimal Rai, Power Secretary, Kunal, Chief Electrical Engineer, Shri. Rajiv Sawant and other dignitaries.
This is a state welfare scheme initiated by the Honourable Minister for Power, Nilesh Cabral under the guidance of the Honourable Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant with an aim to support the consumers in clearing of their long pending dues by paying only the Principle amount and the Delayed Payment charges will be fully or partly waived off depending on the repayment period.
It is the first of its kind scheme introduced in the state of Goa, wherein all category of consumers, Active Consumers, Temporarily Disconnected / Permanently Disconnected and for Revenue Recovery cases consumers can avail benefits. There is also no limit on the outstanding dues pending for payments by the consumers to the Department for availing the scheme.
The department charges consumers a Delayed Payment Charges of 2% per month.
The accumulated arrears are very high for some of the consumers and many cases are as much as 30 years old. This scheme provides once in the life time opportunity to all such consumers to clear pending dues.
In order to avail the One Time Settlement Scheme, 2020, the consumers will have to first register Online on Department’s portal www.goaelectricity.gov.in. The scheme will remain open for period of 1 month ie. from 1st December, 2020 to 31st December, 2020 for Registration. The consumer has a choice of making payments in 1 or 2 installments for 100% waiver of Delayed Payment Charges and part waiver of 80%,60%,40%,20% of DPC for the instalment period of 3,4,5,6 months respectively.
The consumer has to pay the first instalment within 7 days from the date of registration on the OTSS Portal and the subsequent instalments as per the schedule displayed on the portal. If the eligible consumer does not adhere to the payment schedule, then automatically all the benefits as prescribed under the scheme will be null and void. In such cases, the instalments already paid by the consumer will be adjusted against the pending dues to the Department and the consumer will have to pay the Full DPC to the Department.
The OTSS -2020 Payments can be made Online at Department’s website www.goaelectricity.gov.in through Credit Card, Debit Card, Net banking, NEFT / RTGS or at any of the TJSB branches or at Credit / Cooperative Societies enrolled under BBPS. All consumers having long pending dues are requested to avail the benefit of this one-time settlement scheme,2020 to clear all pending dues.
