PANAJI: In a significant step toward enhancing road safety awareness, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant today launched the “Wrong Side of the Road” initiative at the KTC Headquarters in Panaji.
The programme, introduced in collaboration with *BharatCares, CSRBox, Diageo India, and the Transport Department, Government of Goa, aims to instill a culture of safe and responsible driving across the state.
At the heart of the initiative is the introduction of Driver Sensitization TabLabs—interactive learning stations installed across seven RTOs in Goa.
These TabLabs feature engaging modules, real-life accident case studies, and key lessons on safe driving practices, designed to prompt reflection and improve decision-making among drivers.
“Road safety is not just a government responsibility but a collective one,” said Chief Minister Sawant. “With these TabLabs, we are equipping every individual who comes to the RTO for a license or renewal with life-saving knowledge. This is a crucial step toward reducing accidents and creating safer roads.”
The initiative ensures that every visitor to an RTO**—whether applying for a new license or renewing an existing one—will interact with these educational modules, promoting a deeper understanding of the consequences of reckless driving.
The campaign is being hailed as a revolutionary public-private partnership, emphasizing community participation and technological innovation in tackling road safety issues.
Officials hope that this immersive approach will lead to a long-term behavioral shift among motorists in Goa.
The state government and its partners have called on all citizens to support the movement by making conscious, responsible choices on the road. “A safer Goa begins with aware citizens,” the campaign affirms. “Let’s make every journey a safe one.”
