BICHOLIM: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod P. Sawant today laid the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art Government Office Complex in Bicholim, marking a significant step toward administrative development in North Goa. The ambitious project is estimated to cost Rs 57.33 crores.
The ceremony was attended by several prominent leaders including Bicholim MLA and Chairman of Goa Infotech Corporation Dr. Chandrakant P. Shetye, Mayem MLA and Chairman of GSHCL Premendra V. Shet, former Speaker Rajesh Patnekar, Chairperson of Bicholim Municipal Council Vijaykumar Natekar, North Goa Collector Smt. Yashaswini B, IAS, Dy. Collector of Bicholim Nehal Talaunekar, Zilla Panchayat President Shankar Chodankar, and GSIDC Managing Director Harish Adconkar.
Welcoming the dignitaries, North Goa Collector Smt. Yashaswini B. set the tone for the event.
In his address, Chief Minister Dr. Sawant emphasized the Goa Government’s vision of transforming the state into a progressive and future-ready region over the next 25 years. “Our aim is to ensure responsive governance, efficient administration, and structured development as part of the national goal of Vikasit Bharat,” he stated.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the state’s focus on digitization through the Goa Online e-Services Portal, which offers citizens access to 211 government services online. “This single-window platform empowers citizens to avail services anytime, anywhere, without the need to visit government offices,” he noted, encouraging greater public use of the portal.
MLA Dr. Chandrakant Shetye hailed the project as a transformative development for Bicholim Taluka. “This will be a landmark complex catering to all public service needs under one roof,” he said. Dr. Shetye elaborated on the building’s features, noting it would include a stilt floor for parking 94 vehicles, service utilities, and four floors, with a Kala Bhavan on the top floor to promote art and culture.
Echoing similar sentiments, Mayem MLA Premendra V. Shet urged the government to prioritize setting up the Kala Bhavan on the lines of Ravindra Bhavan to serve the region’s cultural aspirations.
The new office complex is expected to streamline public services and significantly improve access to government facilities for the residents of Bicholim and nearby areas.
