Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant garlanded the bust of Hutatma Bala Raya Mapari the first Martyr of Goa’s freedom struggle, to commemorate his 70th Death Anniversary at a function organized by Dept. of Information & Publicity at Assonora. WRD Minister, Subhash Shirodkar, Fisheries Minister, Nilkant Halarnkar & others also paid floral tribute to Hutatma Shri. Bala Raya Mapari.
Bala Raya Mapari was the first Freedom Fighter who laid down his life during Armed struggle against Portuguese rule.
The Govt of Goa is set to build a House of Bala Raya Mapari & erect a Smarak to commemorate his legacy.
“I had an honor to felicitate the Families, Spouse of the Freedom Fighters. We are committed to preserve, protect the memory of our Freedom Fighters who laid down their lives for the Liberation of Goa,” CM said.
