PANAJI: In a strategic move to enhance governance and development in Goa, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant recently convened a high-level meeting at Mantralaya. The gathering, attended by the Chief Secretary, DGP, and other senior officials, focused on pivotal agendas for the upcoming State Budget and the 27th Meeting of the Western Zonal Council. The discussions underscored the CM’s commitment to addressing pressing issues across various sectors, from emergency response systems to judicial reforms.
The meeting highlighted several critical areas of focus. Enhancing the 112 Emergency Response Support System was a key priority, aiming to significantly reduce response times across the state. Additionally, there was a push to strengthen the banking network, ensuring every village has a bank branch within a 3 km radius. Efforts to eliminate illegal slums and promote planned urban development were also emphasized, with District Magistrates directed to identify and address these issues.
Furthermore, the CM instructed the revision of Panjim’s Master Plan and the formulation of new master plans for Vasco, Margao, and Mapusa. Addressing malnutrition in rural areas and reducing school dropout rates were also on the agenda, with plans to implement measures for these issues. The meeting explored successful governance models from other states for potential implementation in Goa.
Judicial reforms were another significant focus, with the CM urging officials to accelerate the implementation of special fast-track courts for swift disposal of Rape & POCSO Act cases. The meeting concluded with a review of the current budget expenditure and preparations for the forthcoming budget.
