PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today has distributed the remaining portfolios to three ministers namely Sudin Dhavalikar, Nilkanth Harlarnkar and Subhash Phaldesai.
As per the order, Sudin Dhavalikar has been allocated Power, New and Renewable Energy and Housing.
Nilkanth Halarnkar has been handed over Fisheries, Factories and Boilers and Animal Husbandry.
Subhash Phal Dessai has been enthrusted with Social Welfare, Archives and Archeology and River Navigation.
With this, three independent MLAs who backed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to form government in Goa earlier this year failed to get a berth in the state cabinet.
Dhavalikar was a minister in the Manohar Parrikar-led as well as Sawant-led governments between 2017 till 2019 before he was dropped ahead of the last Lok Sabha elections.
Three independent MLAs and two legislators of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) have extended support to the BJP. A group of BJP MLAs had recently opposed the induction of MGP into the state cabinet. They had said the BJP did not require the support of the Deepak Dhavalikar-led political outfit.
Govind Gaude had said the MGP legislators should not be inducted into the cabinet as they had contested the Assembly polls against the BJP, in alliance with the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC).
