SANGUEM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday inaugurated a new Primary Health Centre and dialysis facility in Sanguem, aimed at strengthening rural healthcare services in the region.
The facility was inaugurated in the presence of Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, Minister Subhash Phal Dessai, healthcare professionals and other dignitaries.
Highlighting the importance of the initiative, Sawant said the government is committed to expanding quality healthcare access in rural areas. “With the launch of this new Primary Health Centre and dialysis facility in Sanguem, life-saving care is now available closer to home for kidney patients. This will significantly reduce the burden on families and improve timely treatment,” he said.
The Chief Minister also announced that the centre includes a trauma care unit to enhance emergency and critical care services for the region. “We are strengthening healthcare infrastructure across Goa. Goa is the only state establishing dialysis units across Primary Health Centres, ensuring equitable access to essential medical services,” Sawant stated.
He further said that the government is expanding telemedicine, specialist care and preventive healthcare initiatives. “Our focus is on building a Viksit Goa with accessible, affordable and quality healthcare. We are also scaling up preventive programmes such as HPV vaccination and improving outreach in rural belts,” he added.
Sawant noted that with the creation of the Kushawati district, the government will continue to upgrade infrastructure and medical services. “We remain committed to ensuring quality and affordable healthcare for every citizen, especially in rural and remote areas,” he said.
