Vasco: Veer Bal Diwas was solemnly observed at the Gurudwara at Mangor Hill, Vasco, on Friday to commemorate the supreme sacrifice and fearless bravery of Sahibzadas Baba Jorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh, the younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The event drew devotees and dignitaries who gathered to pay homage to the young martyrs whose courage continues to inspire generations.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant visited the Gurudwara along with Vasco MLA Krishna Daji Salkar, Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar and other dignitaries. The Chief Minister also participated in the langar and was seen serving food to devotees alongside the two MLAs, reflecting the spirit of seva associated with the occasion.
Speaking on the sidelines, Sawant said Veer Bal Diwas is being observed across the country following an appeal by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to honour the martyrdom of the Sahibzadas. “I have come to the Gurudwara at Mangor on behalf of the Goa government to pay tribute to Sahibzadas Baba Jorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh. Their bravery and sacrifice will always remain a source of inspiration, especially for today’s youth,” Sawant said.
He further said the observance reflected India’s ethos of unity and harmony. “India is a peace-loving nation where people of different religions live together in harmony. This Gurudwara, the oldest in Mormugao taluka, stands as a symbol of that unity. The Gurudwara management has done commendable work in observing Veer Bal Diwas in a meaningful manner,” the Chief Minister added.
The programme concluded with prayers and collective remembrance, as devotees reaffirmed the values of faith, courage and sacrifice embodied by the Sahibzadas.
