Parra: In one of the most stinging attack on Congress, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant On Friday charged that former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat gave permission to Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) to increase coal import by five million tonnes on March 2, 2012 when model code of conduct for Goa Assembly elections was in force.
Speaking at the inauguration of Parra panchayat ghar in presence of Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho, RDA Minister Michael Lobo, GSIDC vice chairman and MLA Joshua D’Souza, Parra sarpanch Delilah Lobo and panchayat members were present, Sawant said those who created the problem are opposing it now.
“The Congress government gave permission to expand coal handling at MPT in 2011. They again gave permission to increase coal handling by 5 million tonnes per annum in March 2012 when code of conduct was in force. I have documents to show who increased coal handling,” CM said referring to protests against coal in Goa.
CM Dr Pramod Sawant further informed that the government has prepared a plan on how to utilise the Mormugao port for tourism related activities.
“The plan would be ready within next six months the port will be used as tourism port, Sawant added.
He stated that his government is taking decisions by taking the people into confidence but there are poeple who are opposing the government for different project.
“This government is working towards providing toilet, water and electricity to every household. Crores of money is spend to treat the garbage. This government has bothered to provide toilet at every household as well as water and electricity connection. We are working towards Infrastructure development as well as human development”,CM added.
