PANAJI– Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar said that if Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant means what he says, he must immediately sack his Cabinet Minister Filip Neri Rodriguese who was then WRD Minister.
Let the Chief Minister show guts and release White Paper on Mhadei with facts and figures. Let the truth prevail, demanded Chodankar.
He stated that the Chief Minister is a Coward who his running away from facing the truth.
Sharply reacting to the statement made by the Chief Minister yesterday wherein he tried to blame then Congress Government on Mhadei issue, GPCC President Girish Chodankar claimed that the “Action of the Government to file a Contempt Petition is Reaction to Congress Agitation”.
“I compliment all my Congress Warriors who have always remained in the forefront of Mhadei Jagor. Our Congress activist who have utmost respect, emotional bonding and sentimental connect for Goa’s Lifeline Mhadei first protested against betrayer Prakash Jawdekar during IFFI 2019. They were compelled to agitate again since the BJP Government at the Centre as well as the State remained in deep slumber for last one year,” said Girish Chodankar.
He said that Dr. Pramod Sawant must first come clean on the blanket approvals given by the BJP Government to Karnataka in last two years. The reply of Union Minister Prakash Jawdekar to media on questions put to him on Mhadei has completely exposed the Chief Minister of Goa who is now attempting for a Face Saving exercise charged Girish Chodankar.
“We want to know what had stopped Dr. Pramod Sawant to move to Court and other competent Authorities in last one year,” questioned Girish Chodankar.
He charged that it is now clear that because of BJP’s duplicity and the hidden Agenda of giving advantage to Karnataka , the Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant avoided to take the All Party Delegation to the Prime Minster last year.
Reminding the Chief Minister of the pro-active steps taken by the then Congress Government on Mhadei issue, GPCC President stated that it was during the tenure of then CM Digambar Kamat, an All Party Delegation was taken straight to the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh who immediately agreed to Goa’s demand to constitute Mhadei Water Dispute Tribunal & assured the Goan delegation that no injustice will be done to Goa.
Girish Chodankar questioned why the Petition of the Karnataka Government to notify the Mhadei Tribunal Award was not objected for by the Goa Government when there were already references made to the Supreme Court and to the Tribunal by Goa, Karnatala & Maharashtra.
“We reiterate that the BJP Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has mortgaged our Mother Mhadei to Karnataka for political gains in connivance with Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and local BJP Leadership on the same lines of converting Goa into a “Coal Hub” to help PM Modi’s ” Crony Club”,” stated Girish Chodankar.
