Hours after the announcement of Ponda Sub District Hospital being converted to COVID19 hospital, the people of Ponda opposed the move even as the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant called the move as unfortunate.
Chief Minister said that “It is unfortunate to learn from media reports that Madkai MLA Shri Sudin Dhavlikar, a senior legislator, has led a protest to oppose the newly designated Sub District Ponda COVID 19 hospital,” he said.
He said the Government is committed to provide the best of healthcare facilities to the people in this challenging period.
“I urge everyone to come together and support the authorities to fight against this pandemic and avoid politicising issues related to healthcare,” he said.
Earlier, MGP’s Ketan Bhatikar asked “When there are not even one CT scan and MRI machines in Ponda, when there is not a single hospital in and around Ponda which can take care of downtrodden and poor, what type of autocratic behaviour and step motherly treatment to Ponda people is this?”
He asked who is going to take responsibility of all the patients already admitted in the hospital who are told to get discharged?
“What about the risk of infection? No we are not against Covid hospital , we are humans too and we expect all facilities to Ponda patients first and then all other stuff ,” he said.
