CANACONA – The Speaker post is second to none and is a critical post after the chief Ministers’ post, said Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
Chief Minister spoke at Vijay Sankalp Purti Melava, where the Chief Minister, Speaker, Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar, and five others were felicitated in a function organized by Bharatiya Janata Party -Canacona and Canacona Nagrik Samiti.
Besides presenting with the customary shrieval, Shawl, Memento, and flowers, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant was also presented with a Topi and a Bhawani Talwar (Sword), popularly known to be carried by Maratha king Shivaji Maharaj.
Minister for social welfare Subhash Phaldessai, Daji Salkar (MLA-Vasco), Ulhas Tuenkar (MLA-Navelim), Ganesh Gaonkar(Sanvordem MLA) and Sadanand Shet Tanawade (Bjp-Goa President) were also felicitated with a presentation of Shawl, Coconut and Memento.
Speaking further, Sawant said, Government will be totally behind Tawadkar to make Canacona Swayampurn, and we will help human development of Canconcars as well. 100 % schemes will be taken to the last and the poorest of the poor person. Canacona will be the first taluka to be Swayampurn in Goa’.
Speaker Tawadkar, in his speech, said, ‘this Melava is to thank every voter of Canacona, the Karyakarta’s of BJP, Yuwa Morcha Karyakarta’s, Mahila Morcha Shakti, Canacona municipal chairperson Simon Rebello and his team.’ ‘Why only Minister-ship is required, why i cannot work for the people as a Speaker, and I began to think positively, and I will deliver to the people. Because I am a Speaker, I could commence the blacktopping of roads in each and all the villages of the Canacona constituency. We are working on a mission to provide 5000 jobs to Canacona youths alone’.
Those who spoke on occasion are CMC Chairperson Simon Rebello, Chetan Desai, Daji Salkar, Ulhas Tuenkar, Ganesh Gaonkar, Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phaldessai, and Sadanand Shet Tanawade.
