PORVORIM: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant called for calm among taxi operators amid ongoing concerns over the proposed taxi aggregator app. Assuring that the state government is committed to protecting the interests of both the traditional taxi business and the tourism sector, the CM urged stakeholders not to spread misinformation or confusion.
“We want both sectors—taxi operators and tourism—to thrive in Goa. There is no reason for panic or misunderstanding,” Dr. Sawant said, speaking to reporters.
The CM added that the government will soon hold a dedicated press briefing to provide complete clarity on the matter.
He emphasized that transparency will be maintained in the implementation of the taxi app, which is aimed at improving service and convenience for tourists while ensuring livelihoods are safeguarded.
The statement comes amid growing unease among local taxi associations, who have expressed apprehensions over the impact of aggregator platforms on their business.
Further details are expected to be announced at the upcoming press briefing.
