SHIRGAO: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant offered prayers at the Shri Lairai Devasthan in Shirgao and reviewed the arrangements for the upcoming Shirgao Jatra, a deeply revered festival that draws thousands of devotees from across Goa.
During his visit, the Chief Minister inspected the preparations being made for the annual jatra and interacted with officials and temple authorities regarding crowd management, safety measures and overall arrangements.
Emphasising the importance of discipline during the festival, Sawant appealed to devotees to strictly adhere to the guidelines in place.
“Devotees, including Dhonds, should maintain discipline and strictly follow the rules during the Lairai Jatra,” he said.
The Shirgao Jatra is known for its unique rituals, including the traditional fire-walking ceremony performed by Dhonds, and attracts a large gathering of devotees each year.
The Chief Minister expressed hope that the festival would be conducted peacefully and smoothly.
“May Devi Lairai bless everyone with peace, prosperity and happiness,” Sawant said while extending his wishes to devotees.
