SANKHALI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant flagged off the Yuva Run at Pali’s Bombay Road Junction, setting the pace for the Sahil Yuva Utsav 2025 — a youth-led initiative of the Sanquelim constituency.
The marathon drew nearly 500 runners spanning all age groups, from youngsters to senior citizens, who took to the streets with enthusiasm.
Sawant lit the ceremonial torch and waved the flag to kick off the event, describing it as a symbol of community-driven health awareness.
In his address, the CM emphasized the growing need for fitness in the face of hectic and stressful routines.
“Every individual — young or old — should dedicate at least 30 minutes daily to exercise or yoga. A healthy person builds a healthy society, and our youth must take the lead in spreading this message,” he said.
The run saw participation from local leaders and community representatives, including BJP Youth President Tushar Kelkar, Women’s Wing In-Charge Sulakshana Sawant, and Sahili Mandal President Rama Naik, along with panchayat leaders and elected representatives from the region.
Sawant also highlighted that both the government and NGOs are working to create a culture of wellness through health-focused programmes, adding that such events inspire Goans to embrace fitness as a way of life.
The Sahil Yuva Utsav will continue in the coming days with a series of sporting and cultural contests designed to showcase local talent, foster youth engagement, and strengthen community bonds.
