PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has urged local village authorities to take prompt action in clearing water accumulated on roads and highways to prevent damage and avoid accidents, especially during the monsoon season.
Addressing concerns over road safety and infrastructure damage caused by waterlogging, Dr. Sawant stated, “If water is found accumulated on village roads or highways, the Sarpanch and Panch members should, if possible, arrange for its clearance through the Panchayat or inform the Public Works Department (PWD).”
He emphasized that early intervention at the local level can go a long way in ensuring public safety and preserving road conditions during heavy rains. The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of safety measures at work zones, stating, “Barricading must be done at construction sites.”
With the onset of the monsoon, the government is focusing on minimizing hazards related to flooding, poor road conditions, and unmarked construction zones. The Chief Minister’s directive comes as part of broader preparedness measures to ensure the safety and well-being of citizens.
Local bodies have been requested to remain alert and proactive in reporting or addressing any such issues in their jurisdictions.
