CANACONA – Canacona Municipal Council is once again in the limelight, as Divyaj Foundation and Bhamla Foundation awarded the “GREEN CRUSADER AWARD” for the excellent work in Beach cleaning to CMC at CleanaTHon at Miramar. The Award is presented at the hands of Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant to CMC Chairperson Ramakant Naikgaunkar in the presence of Amruta Fadanvis, founder of Divyaj foundation and Asif Bhamla founder of Bhamla foundation at the CleanaTHon function. It may be recalled that Canacona Municipality bagged Indian Swatchta League (ISL) award in the less than 15 K Population Category amongst the 1850 participating Cities in the Country at the Swatchh Sehar Samvad and Azad@75 Swatch Survekshan Awards at, New Delhi, recently. With this CMC has bagged three awards in maintaining beach cleanliness, including the award of State government. Also present were Cine actor Jackie Shroff, Ministers Babush Monserrate, Rohan Khaunte, Subhash Phaldesai, MLA Rajesh Phaldesai, celebrity Karan Kundra, Choreographer Remo D’Souza were present. Speaking on the occasion, actor Jackie Shroff said that just as we clean our body, it is the responsibility of every citizen to clean up the garbage in their surroundings. He mentioned that this land is our mother and it is everybody duty to keep it clean. Stating everyone loves Goa and Goa is a paradise, Divjya foundation founder Amrita Fadnavis said, . Said that, ‘We have come to call for this social work and appeals to the people of Goa to participate in this cleaning work in large number and we did it. Goa should be kept clean’. In his typical style Remo D’Souza said that ‘everything has an alternative, but the earth has no alternative and hence everyone needs to pay attention to keep it safe’.-END
