CANACONA: Taking a strong view on the increasing incidents of throwing Garbage in the open, Canacona Municipal Council Chairperson Ramakant Naikgaunkar warned of arrests by police of anyone found throwing Garbage in the open and on roadsides.
Naigaunkar informed to catch the culprits throwing Garbage out in the open, CMC will install CCTV Cameras at 15 different strategic locations of the municipal areas.
“Canacona municipality has been chosen and selected as one of the best municipalities on cleanliness amongst the 1850 cities in the country under Swatch Bharat.
Every citizen and resident of our municipality has a responsibility to maintain cleanliness and should cooperate to maintain the status”, Naikgaunkar informed.
“Strict action will be taken against those throwing Garbage on the road. In fact, those who throw Garbage in the open will be handed over to the police, and the police will arrest or take them in custody,” warned Chairperson Ramakant Naik Gaunkar.
Speaking further, also blamed the vendors at the Weekly Saturday bazaar at Chaudi for using plastics.
He said plastic is widely used in the Saturday weekly market, which should also stop forthwith, and police should keep surveillance at the weekly bazaar to stop this menace.
“We are taking the cleanliness of Canacona municipal areas very seriously and will do everything to maintain the status of the best swatch-Bharat municipality in the country. Taking cognizance of the waywardness of some culprits, Canacona Municipality has decided to install CCTV cameras at 15 strategic locations. We had already installed one Patnem on an experimental basis. Henceforth, those who throw Garbage in public places will be handed over to the police”, Naikgaunkar reiterated the warning again.
