CANACONA – Canacona Municipal Council after declaring an old era Mangalore Tiles building along NH-66 at Chaudi as ‘Unsafe’ served a notice to stop Trade and Business activities and vacate the premises.
In accordance with the notice under section 190 of Goa Municipalities Act1968, CMC Chief Officer Madhu Narvekar informed, the council has inspected the very old and delipidated buildings/structures and found the portion of the Mangalore Tiles roof and part of the side walls have also collapsed. ‘ The same looks unsafe for humans habitation and may cause loss of life and properties of the occupants and adjacent shop keepers and there passing by pedestrians. Since the structure is situated along the old national highway-17 at Chaudi in survey number 60/3 of village Chaudi -Canacona ‘, states the notice served to five of the traders and business run in or alongside the old delipidated building.
The Chief officer has further called on the traders/businesses to stop the Trade/Business activities and vacate their respective premises immediately. ‘And restore by following due proceedure or demolish the structure within 15 days of receipt of the notice(issued on 3/01/2023), and failing which threatened to take further actions as mandated by law to be taken under section 190 of Goa Municipalities Act 1968 will be initiated ‘, ends the order.
Residents remembers this olden era structure right accross the NH-17 used to house the once only cafeteria ‘Babuso’s Chai-Dukan’, a famous point of the upcoming commercial hub of Chaudi in Canacona, situated side of the than Fazenta building (now demolished and goods carrier Stand). Sources added the Notices are served on most of the concerned on Wednesday.
