MARGAO: CM Pramod Sawant took indirect potshots on the former TCP Minister and Goa Forward president Vijai Sardesai over the alleged illegal Old Goa construction in the heritage zone, saying the former minister’s close aid is the partner in the project.
Speaking to reporters in Margao Ravindra Bhavan, Chief Minister said that no illegal construction would be permitted by his government.
“As soon as I have heard about these illegal constructions, I have asked the TCP department to inquire into the matter and find out the truth and if there are any illegalities, then revoke all permissions,” Sawant said.
He said that the people who are blaming the government must question their friends about the illegal construction.
“Those who are blaming the government, their own close friend and party office bearers are partners in the project,” he said
He further said that as far as the government is concerned, it will take action immediately if any illegalities are found.
“Government will take action but give me time to act. People must see when licences were given and who is an owner in form I & XIV,” he said.
Sardesai said that his former party treasurer was asked to step down after his involvement in the construction.
“We have acted, and now it is up to the government to act against the project,” he said.
Sardesai has also clarified that the licences were given during former TCP Minister late Francis D’Souza.
