PORVORIM: Agriculture Minister Babu Kavlekar said that coconut production in the State has increased from 131.63 million nuts in 2017-18 to 164.67 million nuts during 2020- 21.
He also said that the Government has increased the assured price for a coconut from Rs.10/- to Rs. 12/- per coconut during 2020-21.
“Coconut production in the State has increased from 131.63 million nuts in 2017-18 to 164.67 million nuts during 2020- 21. Also, the assured coconut price has been increased from Rs.10/- to Rs. 12/- per coconut during 2020-21,” said Kavlekar.
He further said that 50% assistance for the purchase of organic manure and inputs up to Rs.10,000/- per ha under the existing scheme ‘Assistance for Purchase of Organic Inputs’and 75% assistance is also provided for the purchase of organic and inorganic fertilizers for ST and SC Farmers under the scheme ‘Assistance for Agriculture Inputs’ under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) and Schedule Caste Plan (SCP), maximum up to Rs.12,000/- per ha for maximum 2ha per farmers is provided.
Babu also said that organic inputs are also supplied to the Coconut growers covered under Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana(PKVY) Organic Cluster.
