PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said Coding and Robotics Education will be introduced to students from 6th to 8th as part of their curriculum.
“The Coding and Robotics Education in Schools (CARES) scheme was announced in the budget on March 24, 2021. Students in class 6th to 8th will have this program as part of their curriculum,” said CM Sawant while addressing the National Youth Parliament function.
He further said that this scheme aims to introduce an interactive pedagogy sparking an interest in Coding and Robotics.
“Over the next 2 academic years the program will introduce more detailed and advanced topics. Advanced sections of the course will be conducted after school hours, thereby integrating with the current academic system instead of disrupting it,” he added.
Sawant said that it has envisioned that this program will ‘Develop computational, design thinking and programming skills’.
“The Directorate of Technical Education is leading this program. The Project management unit has been constituted to execute the scheme statewide. Thus far over 520 teachers have been trained on this new program and it covers 367 aided/ Govt schools in the State of Goa,” CM said.
Meanwhile, CM Sawant said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the slogan of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and on the theme of Goa at 60, the Government of Goa is working towards giving more emphasis on women empowerment.
“To make women self-reliant, all the schemes of the central government and CM employment scheme have been implemented,” he added.
