Panaji: The Collector and District Magistrate has directed Deputy Collectors and Sub-Divisional Magistrates of both districts to plan, supervise and monitor all necessary arrangements in view of the upcoming public celebrations of Shigmo, Carnival and Shivaji Jayanti during February and March 2026.
As the festivities are expected to draw large public gatherings across South Goa and Kushavati districts, the district administration will put in place comprehensive measures to maintain law and order, ensure public safety and facilitate effective crowd management.
The arrangements will be made in close coordination with the Police Department, Municipal bodies, Health Services, Fire and Emergency Services, Transport Department and other concerned line departments. Adequate deployment of Executive Magistrates and police personnel will be ensured at major venues.
Traffic diversion plans, parking arrangements and public advisories will be issued in advance in coordination with the traffic police to prevent congestion and ensure smooth movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
Event organisers and stakeholders have been instructed to strictly comply with applicable noise regulations, safety norms and structural guidelines for sound systems, DJs, floats and stages.
The Collector has further directed that medical teams, ambulances, fire tenders and emergency response units be stationed at key event locations to ensure the safe and orderly conduct of the celebrations.
The district administration has appealed to the public to cooperate in maintaining peace, safety and communal harmony during the festive period.
