THIVIM: In a major crackdown on drug peddling, Colvale Police arrested a 25-year-old Nepalese national, Roshan Japrel, at Thivim Railway Station on Wednesday and seized 3.5 kg of ganja worth ₹3.5 lakh.
The accused, a resident of Calangute, had arrived from Mumbai on the Mandovi Express and was intercepted at the station’s parking lot following a tip-off. Police said the consignment was meant for distribution to customers in Goa.
Japrel has been booked under the NDPS Act. Officials confirmed that he had previously been arrested by Saligao Police in a 2024 narcotics case.
The raid was carried out by PSI Dattaraj Rane along with a team of constables, under the supervision of PI Sanjit Kandolkar (Colvale Police Station), SDPO Wilson Dsouza (Mapusa), and SP Rahul Gupta, IPS (North Goa).
Police said the action was part of intensified anti-drug operations following directions from Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, with additional surveillance deployed at railway stations, bus stands, and educational institutions.
Further investigation is underway.
