SALIGAO: Even as the government, panchayats and the heath workers are working round the clock to bring the pandemic under control there have been instances of COVID19 positive patients and relatives seen roaming irresponsibly.
Residents of Saligao, in North Goa have complained that the COVID19 patients or their relatives are roaming freely during isolation period and complaints to police have borne no fruits.
Locals said that the positive patients and the relatives are seen in markets and when questioned start arguments.
The Saligao panchayat has started monitoring and delivering the essentials to the positive patients to their doorsteps but yet the people do not listen to stay home.
“We have started even delivering the home isolation kits and urged people not to move out. We have also told them that whatever they may need just give a call to respective ward member or myself, we are ready to help,” said Saligao Sarpanch Lafira Gomes.
She said while the panch members are monitoring the people whose names figure in the list sent by Health department there are many who do private tests and their names are not available.
“How can we monitor those whose names we do not have,” she said.
She stated that the police should question those who are roaming outside without any reason.
“Police must take strict action and also government must make strict guidelines for such positive people who put lives of others at risk,” Lafira stated.
