PANAJI: Goa police have threatened to prosecute those who fail to register the details of foreign guests on the Bureau of Immigration in a timely manner, as required by law.
They have done this by pointing out that a number of hotel owners and other providers of lodging to foreigners are failing to do so.
As required by the Foreigners Act, police have instructed owners of hotels, guest houses, individual residences, service apartments, and other businesses that rent out or accommodate foreigners to send the C-Forms to FRRO or FRO within 24 hours of the foreigners’ arrival on their property.
According to the law, hosts must register their information on the Bureau of Immigration (BoI) website, https://boi.gov.in/, using the online C-Form system.
“Noncompliance with Section 16 of the Foreigners (Amendment Order 2016) in relation to Section 14 of the Foreigners Act 1946 may result in prosecution.” A police notice reads, “To avoid Legal Action, Register online for submission of C-forms on the portal at the earliest.”
