PANAJI: The components of various Comunidades across Goa today met the Revenue Minister Atanasio Monseratte and submitted a memorandum objecting to the proposed amendments to the Code of Comunidades.
The components present also placed before the Minister various difficulties experienced by the Comunidades in tackling encroachment of land and illegal constructions.
They also appraised the Minister of the pending renovation work of the Administrator s offices in North and South Goa and exploring avenues to raise Revenues of these bodies as well as the Administrator s offices to make them self-sufficient, as well as improving the services to be provided for the efficient functioning of the elected committees.
Other issues discussed included providing rights to a single girl child in the absence of male heirs and the appointment of the Zonal Advisory Committee to assist the respective Administrators.
The Minister gave a patient hearing and promised to look into all these issues by convening a meeting of the stakeholders and the concerned Revenue officials.
