PANAJI: In a significant move to enhance digital literacy among public servants, the Goa government has mandated a minimum six-month computer diploma for candidates applying to government positions that require computer proficiency. This new requirement will come into effect starting No1, 2025.
According to the directive, applicants must possess a diploma in computer applications from institutes recognized by the Info Tech Corporation of Goa Ltd, the Government of India or a certified six-month course in computers approved by the Human Resource Development Foundationand affiliated with the Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
However, exemptions have been granted to candidates holding degrees or diplomas in computer-related fields as well as those who have qualified as programming assistants from recognized Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs).
The decision is part of an effort to standardize the recruitment process across various state departments and ensure that new hires are equipped with the necessary computer skills to perform their duties efficiently.
