Panaji: The birth centenary year of senior freedom fighter and journalist Lakshmidas Krishna Borkar is set to conclude with a grand ceremony on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, starting at 5:00 PM.
Organized jointly by the Lakshmidas Borkar Birth Centenary Celebration Committee and Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, the event marks the culmination of a year-long series of 16 commemorative programs held across Goa and Mumbai.
The Governor of Goa, Shri P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, will attend the ceremony as the chief guest and will unveil a special commemorative postage stamp and first-day cover released by the Department of Posts, Government of India, in honor of Lakshmidas Borkar.
The program will also feature the screening of a documentary titled “Das-Bodh”, directed by Dnyanesh Moge, showcasing the life and legacy of Borkar.
As part of the celebrations, the Governor will also release the centenary memorial volume titled “DAS – Lakshmidas Borkar Centenary Memorial Book” along with several of Borkar’s digitized literary works.
Renowned Jnanpith Award-winning Konkani author Shri Damodar Mauzo and the Chief Postmaster General of Maharashtra and Goa, Shri Amitabh Singh, will be present as special guests.
The event is open to the public and aims to honor the enduring legacy of Lakshmidas Borkar as a patriot, journalist, and cultural figure.
