DONA-PAULA: Claiming that the current political atmosphere is in favour of Congress party in Goa, the AICC senior election observer P Chidambaram today ruled out pre-poll alliance at this point as he intends prepare party to fight in all 40 constituencies in the upcoming 2022 election.
Chidambaram also disclosed that reviving mining without harming current enviroment will be the agenda on Congress’ manifesto while terming BJP’s announcement on mining corporation as bogus.
Addressing the media, Chidambaram said that the current atmosphere is favourabable for the Congress party in Goa and at this moment, we are not thinking of anypre-poll alliance.
“Current political atmosphere is in favour of Congress party in Goa, we rule out ant pre-poll alliance at this point as Congress intends to fight in all 40 constituencies in the upcoming 2022 election; We will be putting out loyal army of candidates,” he said
He further said that alliance is not the mandate now and we as a Congress party will get the party ready to fight elections in all the 40 constituencies.
Chidambaram said that the people of the state should believe in the Congress as it is the only option for the people and provide job opportunities, business enviroment and most importantly deliver a good governance to Goans.
Chidambaram also didn’t reply when asked if Congress will retain Girish Chodankar as the GPCC President.
Speaking on the mining sector, ee said that there are many ways to review tourism and Goa’s mining sector without disrupting the current enviroment which will be incorporated in the Congress’ manifesto in the coming days.
“All the announcements made almost 6 months to the assembly elections are generally termed as bogus,” Chidambaram was pointing out to CM Pramod Sawants promise of forming the mining corporation to re-start mining activity
Speaking on India’s economy, he said that demonitisation by PM Narendra Modi was the most foolish decisions of all timewhile stating that the economy at present is at an all time low.
“India’s gross domestic product (GDP) figures showing a negative growth of 7.3% in the 2020-21 fiscal and called it “the darkest year of the economy in four decades” that left “most Indians poorer than they were two years ago”, he added
He further said that the country can’t lose another year like we lost the last year, but the way the government is reacting, we are going to lose another year.
“My advice to the government is (to) act boldly and spend. Borrow or print money and spend,” he said
Newly-appointed AICC election observer for Goa, P Chidambaram, had arrived on Wednesday on a two-day visit during to discuss the party’s strategy with local leaders for the Assembly polls.
