PANAJI: Panaji police today have summoned Ashok Wadia, Director of Casino Pride, to appear before the IO on December 20 for questioning.
Wadia and others are booked for allegedly obstructing ED officials, threatening, and confining them.
According to authorities, an offshore casino vessel’s employees allegedly assaulted an Enforcement Directorate (ED) crew in Goa.
Poluri Chenna Kesava Rao, an assistant director of the ED, and his team were reportedly attacked by the workers of the offshore casino vessel and held in a room during their search of the premises on Thursday afternoon, according to the complaint filed at the Panaji police station, the official said.
He said that senior employees Gopal Ramnath Naik, Arati Raja, and casino director Ashok Wadia were among the assault’s participants.
According to a Goa police, the accused illegally detained the complainant and his colleagues in a room while they were performing their official duties and threatened to harm them.
According to police, the director and employees of the casino have also been charged by the ED with deleting the evidence they gathered during their investigation of the establishment in relation to a money laundering case.
