DHARGAL: At response to the reported unlawful hill cutting at Sukekolan, Dhargal, the Goa Congress Committee has called for prompt action. After visiting the location with the Pernem Block Congress Committee and other officials, Congress President Amit Patkar halted the operation.
“In Dhargal, rampant hill cutting is happening openly, right in front of the authorities,” Patkar claimed. The TCP minister, Vishwajit Rane, stated, “It’s important to recognize that fines alone do not restore the land to its original condition. He has claimed that those involved in illegal hill cutting will face fines.”
“Delta Corp purchased 317,500 square meters of Dhargal land. This land is divided into three sections: an irrigation command area, a natural cover, and an orchard. Inquiring as to whether a casino is a part of Goa’s culture and history, Patkar stated, “In such land, the government has given permission to have a casino.”
He also took issue with the government’s filing of First Information Reports (FIRs) against people who alter land slightly but permit extensive destruction. “If the TCP minister keeps his word, he ought to remove all granted permits and file a formal complaint against the offender. Patkar stated, “If he is unable to achieve that, he ought to step down from his position.
TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane, meantime, stated that the hill-cutting has not received approval from his department.
