CANACONA – A joint meeting of office bearers of Congress party and Goa Forward have formed a united alliance of all opposition parties and independent and like-minded candidates to fight the forthcoming panchayat elections.
Recently, Revolutionary Goan has given a call of unity amongst all candidates opposed to BJP and formed panels to fight BJP in a local poll slated for 10th August.
Interestingly, many people of Canacona came together at the Congress-Goa Forward meeting convened on Monday at Shrishthal and other like-minded people and decided to fight the forthcoming panchayat election together.
With impressive participation, criteria for choosing candidates have been discussed at length with the opinion of all who have attended the meeting.
Incidentally, GPCC General Secretary Janardhan Bhandari took the initiative to streamline a strategy to jointly field all opposition candidates and win the panchayat elections against the ruling party.
Earlier, Bhandari briefed the gathering requesting all present to bring forth all others to jointly give a fight and win the panchayat elections.
Canacona taluka has seven panchayats out of two. Panchayats of Agonda and Khotigao have seven members, while the nine- members panchayats are Khola, Shrishthal, Gaondongrim, Poinguinim and Loliem-Polem.
It may be recalled that a Congress- Goa Forward alliance jointly fought the last Assembly election in Canacona.
Meanwhile, in yet another move to joint field opposition to the BJP in Canacona, Revolutionary Goans have also invited the like-minded candidates to join together and fight against divisive forces.
