Margao –
Congress Leader & Benaulim ZP Candidate Royla Fernandes in a press statement issued here today said that it is disturbing to note conspicuous silence of Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on the incident of attack on a young girl in Chandor by stopping her vehicle on the way in broad daylight.
“Why you did not react on the incident of young girl forced to drink disinfectant in Chandor? Why you remain silent on atrocities on Women? You are Chief Minister of Goa & your duty is to protect each and every Citizen,” she asked the CM.
She was reacting to a tweet of Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant directing Goa Police to take strong action on the attackers in dreadful incident at Provorim where a person was burnt alive who eventually succumbed to his injuries.
In her reply to tweet of Dr. Pramod Sawant, Royla Fernandes tweeted “Unfortunately, the Person succumbs to injuries. My condolenecs to his family.
“@DrPramodPSawant, Why you did not react on the incident of girl forced to drink disinfectant in Chandor? Why you remain silent on atrocities on Women? You are @goacm & your duty is to protect all”” she said.
It may be noted that Chief Minister refrained from posting any tweet or giving his reactions after the attack on young girl in Chandor. This is disturbing stated Royla Fernandes.
“The Chief Minister of any State is responsible for Safety and Security of each and every Citizen. Dr. Pramod Sawant also holds Home Portfolio. How can he be selective? Or is it that he too is pushing the agenda of the BJP to victimise Women,” questioned Royla Fernandes.
“We demand that Chief Minister must order a fast track investigation on the Chandor incident and nab the culprits immediately. The womens are feeling completely unsafe to move around freely”, claimed Royla Fernandes.
