PANAJI: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) today has written to the Chief Electoral Office (CEO) questioning appointment of non IPS officer as SP South in violation of IPS (Fixation of Cadre Strength).
GPCC Vice President Sunil Kawthankar in a letter to the CEO said that as per the above Rules the Office of the Superintendent of Police, South Goa can be assumed only by an IPS as the same is a Cadre Post as per IPS (fixation of Cadre Strength) Regulations, 1955.
He said that it is seen that a non-cadre Officer is appointed to the said post thus violating the Rules which are framed by the Central Government.
“In view of the Model Code of Conduct, such violation need to be viewed seriously. Hence you are kindly requested to take action at the earliest,” he said.
