Margao – Congress Party today burnt the effigy of BJP former MLA Damodar alias Damu Naik for his derogatory remarks against Goans staying abroad by calling them Bebe.
Congress protested at BJP Office in Margao under the leadership of South Goa District President Joseph Dias. GPCC Vice President Altinho Gomes, General Secretary Subhash Faldessai, Moreno Rebello, Joseph Vaz, District Memebers Deepak Kharangate, Adv Yemen Dsouza, Jacaris Goes, Ethel Lobo, Peter Gomes, Parag Raikar, Arch. Royla Fernandes, Floriano Colaco, Wilson Gonsalves, Block Presidents Manuel Colaco, Ryan Viegas, Gopal Naik, Piedade Noronha and Seafarer Raymond Fernandes, Michelle Rebello and others protested.
Goans working abroad contribute for economy of Goa. I strongly condemn the insulting remark by BJP Office Bearer Damu Naik calling them “Bebe”. We demand immediate apology from the BJP demanded South Goa District President Joseph Dias. The BJP government has failed to provide jobs to Goans which has compelled our youth to go abroad for earning for their living said Joseph Dias.
The Goans who work abroad always keep connect with their mother land and support their families. Insulting our brothers and sisters in such a way is highly condemnable stated Arch. Royla Fernandes.
We work hard to earn our bread and butter and we support our families in Goa with our hard earned money. BJP has no right to insult us for questioning their misdeeds said Seafarer Raymond Fernandes.
GPCC Vice President Altinho Gomes also strongly condemned the remarks of BJP against Goans staying abroad.
