PANAJI: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee on Saturday lodged a strong against Union Minister Prakash Javadekar coming to Goa by burning his effigy.
The GPCC said that the minister has no right to come to Goa as he has sold the River Mhadei to Karnataka.
They shouted slogans like “Javdekar go back”,” Javadekar murdabad” and “Aamchi mhadei Aamka jaai”.
GPCC spokesperson Amarnath Panjikar said that the Environment minister, who has taken oath of saving environment has sold our mother Mhadei.
“He has no right to come to Goa and stay in a posh hotel. He has sold Goa and Mhadei. He is the saudagar (dealmaker). He has to apologise to Goa for selling Mhadei,” said Panjikar.
He said the State has spent crores of rupees to fight the case in Supreme Court and the Tribunal.
“We are here to condemn Javadekar by burning his effigy. Till he does apologise he has no right to come to Goa,” he said.
Pointing to Javadekar’s meeting with famrmers on farm bills, Panjikar challenged the minister to go and talk to farmres of Melaulim where their land is given to the IIT.
