PANAJI: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) has strongly condemned the BJP for allegedly misusing public funds and government platforms for political propaganda. The criticism comes in the wake of an incident at the ‘Mhaje Ghar Yojana’ event, where BJP Goa President Damu Naik was seen seated on the official dais alongside Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant.
GPCC President Amit Patkar described the act as a “complete erosion of democratic norms and governance ethics,” questioning who authorised the BJP state chief to occupy an official seat at a taxpayer-funded event. “This is not governance; it is shameless political advertising at the cost of Goans,” he said.
Patkar further criticised the BJP Government in Goa for allegedly converting every official platform into a party campaign stage, using public money, government officers, and official machinery to push its political agenda. “While Goans struggle with unemployment, inflation, and crumbling infrastructure, the BJP prioritises photo-ops and event management over real governance,” he added.
The Congress has demanded that the Chief Minister clarify under what authority Damu Naik was allowed on the official dais and whether the expenses for the event were borne by the public exchequer. Patkar emphasised that Goa will not remain silent while government initiatives are allegedly converted into a “party-owned PR exercise,” stressing that governance belongs to the people, not to political propaganda machinery.
