MARGAO: To mark the occasion of Guru Purnima, Margao Congress Block Convener Savio Coutinho, along with party office bearers Lincoln Gomes, Lalan Parsekar, and Murad Sayed, visited Loyola High School and Higher Secondary School in Margao.
The delegation presented a basket of flowers and a framed copy of the Preamble to the Constitution of India to Fr. William Rodrigues, Superior of the Jesuit Institution and Chairman of the school, in a symbolic gesture of respect and gratitude.
Speaking on the occasion, Coutinho said that Guru Purnima is a day to honour teachers, mentors, and guides who illuminate the path of knowledge and wisdom. “In our lifetime, we come across several ‘Gurus’—not only in the form of academic teachers but also through individuals who influence us with their values, experiences, and guidance,” he noted.
The observance served as a tribute to all educators and mentors who play a vital role in shaping individuals and contributing to the betterment of society.
Guru Purnima also commemorates the birth anniversary of Maharishi Ved Vyasa, revered as the author of the Mahabharata and a symbol of enlightenment and knowledge in Indian tradition.
