PANAJI: The Congress Party has urged Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant to direct the Director General of Police (DGP) to immediately provide security cover to Pooja Naik, the accused in the alleged “Cash for Job” scam.
Congress leader Sunil Kawthankar alleged that with the rising incidents of crime and the growing gun culture under the BJP government in Goa, there is a serious threat to Naik’s life. “Some supari gangster of the BJP may shoot her before she names the minister involved,” Kawthankar warned.
He demanded that the government ensure Naik’s safety so that she can reveal the full extent of the alleged ₹17 crore scam, in which a minister, an IAS officer, and a PWD engineer have reportedly been named. Kawthankar said the case highlights deep-rooted corruption in the system and accused the government of trying to shield powerful individuals involved in the scam.
