PANAJI: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) on Wednesday sounded a battle cry ahead of the upcoming Zilla Panchayat (ZP) elections, with party president Amit Patkar declaring that the Congress is “battle-ready” to take on the BJP at every booth and block.
Patkar chaired a meeting of Block Presidents and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) of North Goa, where strategies for booth-level vigilance and coordination were finalized.
Accusing the BJP of indulging in defections, misuse of money power and what he termed as systematic “vote chori,” Patkar said the Congress would “crush every conspiracy to subvert democracy.”
“Every vote is sacred and every mandate is supreme. Our BLAs and Block Presidents are the frontline soldiers of this battle. Together, we will not allow the BJP to steal Goa’s mandate. Every betrayal will be exposed, and every attempt at vote chori will be defeated,” Patkar said.
He added that the Congress had rebuilt itself “brick by brick and cadre by cadre,” and was now more united and stronger than ever before. “The ZP elections will be a people’s victory over BJP’s arrogance, dictatorship and betrayal of trust,” he asserted.
The GPCC chief expressed confidence that Congress would emerge victorious in the ZP polls, declaring that the party stood “for Goa, with Goa, by Goa.”
