PANAJI: Congress Goa desk in-charge, Manikrao Thakare, firmly stated on Sunday that the party has no intention of re-admitting defectors, including the eight members who left in 2022 and the ten Congress leaders who joined the BJP in 2019.
Addressing Congress workers in Margao, Thakare emphasized that the party doors are “100 percent” closed for those who have previously defected. He noted that the decision was made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, asserting that defectors would have no future in the party.
Thakare was responding to questions from party members about the defection issue and the timely announcement of candidates for upcoming elections. He made it clear that the Congress would not accept “traitors” back into the fold, and he expressed confidence that the party would grow stronger and defeat prominent defectors like Digambar Kamat in the upcoming elections.
The Congress leader’s statements underline the party’s strategy to distance itself from individuals seen as betraying the party, while positioning itself for a united and robust challenge in the upcoming electoral race.
