PANAJI: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) on Saturday launched a sharp attack on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of indulging in “opportunistic politics” and indirectly helping the BJP in the state.
In a statement issued by GPCC president Amit Patkar, the Congress said that Goa has suffered for over two decades under “BJP’s corrupt and destructive rule” and charged that Kejriwal only visits Goa during elections to target Congress instead of challenging the BJP.
“His politics is not about defeating BJP; it is about protecting them. That is why Goans rightly call AAP the BJP’s B-Team,” Patkar alleged.
The GPCC president further accused AAP of playing a “vote-cutting role” in the previous Assembly elections, claiming the party had no concern for Goa’s well-being, no vision for development, and no commitment to protect the state’s identity.
“While Congress and its karyakartas have stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Goans — fighting unemployment, exposing corruption, protecting the environment, and defending Goa’s identity — AAP has been absent when people suffered, silent when BJP trampled democracy, and invisible when solidarity was most needed,” Patkar said.
He also alleged that Kejriwal “looks away when BJP loots, stays quiet when democracy is trampled, but suddenly arrives with cameras and promises during elections.”
The Congress maintained that it remains the “real Opposition and the true voice of Goa,” committed to defeating the BJP and protecting Goa’s future.
