PANAJI: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) has initiated a major ground-level campaign ahead of the upcoming Zilla Panchayat (ZP) elections, signalling its intent to strengthen village-level influence across the state.
GPCC President Shri Amit Patkar chaired separate meetings at the North Goa and South Goa District Congress offices with district presidents, block leaders, and grassroots workers. Party sources said discussions focused on finalizing credible candidates and crafting strategies for deeper voter engagement in every village.
Patkar criticized the ruling BJP for being “disconnected from the ground” and accused it of prioritizing power politics over people’s welfare. He emphasized that Congress aims to restore Zilla Panchayats as instruments of grassroots development, transparency, and accountability.
“The energy at our district meetings shows growing public trust in Congress. These elections are crucial for ensuring Goa’s villages have a voice in shaping the state’s future,” Patkar said.
The party’s early mobilisation underscores its determination to reclaim public confidence at the local level, positioning Congress as a serious contender in the ZP polls.
