PONDA: The Congress leader Rajesh Verenkar on Friday distributed ‘Face Mask’ to the people, to fight against COVID, and paid rich tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary.
Rajesh Verenkar and Congress supporters observed the death anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi in his office at Ponda and later distributed the mask to the people by maintaining social distance.
Speaking on the occasion, Verenkar said that there is a need for everyone to work together to combat COVID, which has made people suffer and many have lost lives due to it. “It is our responsibility to spread awareness and help people in these testing times. Hence, Congress supporters, including the team of Ponda First, are working day and night to help COVID patients from Ponda and neighboring constituencies.” He said.
Congress leader Rajesh Verenkar said that after knowing the difficulties people faced to reach hospitals and testing centers, he immediately pressed his vehicles and teams in service to pick and drop these patients. “COVID spike was such that there was pressure on government facilities and dearth of ambulances was witnessed. This made people suffer and hence we decided to help them.” He said.
He said that people can protect themselves and others too by wearing masks. “Whilst, paying tributes to Rajiv Gandhi, who always worked in the interest of society, we decided to distribute the masks to people.” He said.
He also appealed people to get themselves tested on time if found any symptoms of COVID. “It is always better to test, than to repent later.” He said.
