DONAPAULA: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) members including Opposition leader Yuri Alemao, Congress State President Amit Patkar, Vice State President Sunil Kawthankar and some others were detained by Police for organising Raj Bhavan March on the recent indictment of Gautam Adani.
Yuri Alemao, the leader of the opposition, claimed that the Modi administration had protected Adani from prosecution and called for his immediate arrest.
“Industrialist Gautam Adani need to be taken into custody because he is accused of bribery and fraud in the United States. Adani has reportedly violated both Indian and US laws. Alemao urged the Modi administration to act to demonstrate that it did not support Adani,” he added
GPCC President Amit Patkar said that neither the prime minister nor the government have responded to the revelation. This is directly related to him, which is why,” he claimed. He insisted on the creation of a JPC to go into the bribery allegations in depth.
Patkar claimed that although the government is detaining chief ministers from states controlled by the opposition on corruption accusations, it is not detaining a businessman who is alleged to have paid a bribe of Rs 2,000 crore.
“Action against whistle blowers! The land grab accused Suleman ran away from police custody but this government is not saying anything about that instead, they’re taking action against our office bearers, those who acted as whistle blowers in this matter,” said Patkar
Madhabi Buch of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) stated that the occurrence will frighten international investors and make them hesitant to invest in the nation, stating that his silence raises concerns.
Given the grave accusations made against him, the Modi administration ought to detain Adani right away. A sum of Rs 2000 crore is not insignificant. It will demonstrate that Adani and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are directly connected if he is not arrested, Patkar stated.
