DONA PAULA: There is no sign of 10k jobs promised by teh Chief MInister Dr Pramod Sawant, but definitely there are lots of vacancies that have popped up in the political parties.
Independent MLA Prasad Gaonkar today clearly indicated his willingness to join the Congress party after holding a meeting with AICC Goa election in-charge P Chidambaram in Panaji.
Since Wednesday, P Chidambaram is on a two-day Goa visit to plan strategy and prepare for the upcoming 2022 elections.
Gaonkar today called on Chidambaram and discussed ideas to defeat BJP in the coming election.
He said he has expressed his desire to join the party, and now the ball is in the Court of Congress. “It is for Congress to take a call whether they want to join me or not,” Gaonkar said.
During the meeting, Gaonkar also discussed in detail the political issues in the Sanguem constituency.
Gaonkar, who had extended support to BJP led government under ex-CM late Manohar Parrikar term in 2017, withdrew his support earlier this year over the issue of the IIT project.
Meanwhile, today, the Former Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) Mayor and close aide of Babush Monserrate, Uday Madakaikar, said he will join the Congress party.
“I have decided to join the Congress because now we feel that we do not have a place in the BJP Mandal, I do not have respect in BJP,” said Madkaikar
He further said that he is ready to contest in Panaji if given a chance against any candidate. I wish Babush all the best.
“Now people who were against Babush are now close to him, and we all loyal supporters are kept aside. I want to make Congress strong because I am originally from the Congress,” he said
He said that now the time has come to serve the Congress party and make the organization strong.
Earlier, Monserrate had said that anybody from 24 candidates will be the mayor, dropping enough hints that the outgoing mayor Uday Madkaikar will not be given another chance. Babush kept his word and did not give another term Madkaikar.
