CANACONA: A 35-year-old construction worker collapsed and died while at work at a construction site near Partagal Math, Canacona, on Sunday afternoon.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Hanamantappa Hakki (35), a native of Dharwad, Karnataka, and presently residing in Canacona. He was brought dead to the Community Health Centre (CHC), Canacona, at around 12:38 pm, as informed by the duty doctor.
During enquiry, police learnt that Hanamantappa had been working with fellow labourers since morning when he suddenly felt unwell and went to his tent to rest. A while later, his co-workers found him unconscious and unresponsive. He was immediately rushed to the CHC, where the doctor declared him brought dead.
An inquest panchanama was conducted, and the body has been preserved at South Goa District Hospital, Margao, for medico-legal formalities and post-mortem examination.
Further enquiry is being conducted by PSI Ramdas B. Doifode of Canacona Police Station.
